Wall of Shame
“Wall of Shame” to Launch on The Fourth of July

A red, white, and blue public art project displaying the stories and crimes of the 1,500+ January 6th rioters pardoned by Trump.

Radio Free Brooklyn’s latest public art project is a follow-up to 2020’s  “Wall of Lies,” the 100-foot-long mural that drew international attention by displaying the 20,000+ lies Trump told in office.

Radio Free Brooklyn needs your help to launch our latest public art project. The “Wall of Shame” is a powerful and timely visual art project created in collaboration with artist Phil Buehler, displaying the stories and crimes of the over 1,500 January 6th Capitol rioters pardoned by President Donald Trump.

The installation is a 50-foot-long, 10-foot-tall outdoor mural featuring the pardoned January 6 rioters, color-coded to distinguish their actions: violent rioters appear in red, those who damaged property are shown in blue, and the remaining individuals are depicted in white. The installation will be unveiled on July 4th and is free and open to the public. The rioters’ stories, charges, and sentences were collected and fact-checked by NPR.

It’s crucial to reflect on what accountability means in our democracy,” says Rob Prichard, co-founder of Radio Free Brooklyn. “This mural serves as a visual reminder of the events that challenged our democratic institutions and the subsequent pardons that followed.”

The project is the third in a series of collaborations between Buheler and RFB, which began in 2020 with the “Wall of Lies,” a 50-foot mural displaying over 20,000 lies told by Trump during his first term in office. The project drew attention from the international press, as well as a visit from then Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The second installation, the “Wall of Liars and Deniers,” was a mural displaying the hundreds of Republican politicians running in the 2022 midterms who denied Biden’s fair election as President.

“With ‘Wall of Shame’, we knew we had to address this pivotal moment in American history,” said RFB co-founder Tom Tenney, “The July 4th timing underscores questions about patriotism and the rule of law.”

“A red hat, white skin, and blue jeans don’t make you a patriot. But storming the Capitol makes you a traitor,”  Buhler added.

The installation will be displayed outside the Pine Box Rock Shop bar at 12 Grattan Street in Bushwick. The official unveiling by the artist will take place from 2-6 PM. Please help us fund this project by making a donation at radiofreebrooklyn.org/donate.
